Here are my Top 10 Favorite Restaurants in the Twin Cities (Minneapolis-St. Paul). Please note that most of them are not in the heart of Downtown in either city. This is because I find Downtown to be exhausting, frustrating, and never as enjoyable as restaurants in the suburbs.
I will be doing this in daily segments because what I have to say about each of my Top 10 is too detailed for one whole story.

1. Tavern on France This is, hands-down, my favorite restaurant. I have never had a bad experience at this place. The service is always funny, friendly, and timely. They have a wonderful menu plus the option to "Build Your Own" for Salads, Burgers, Pizza and Bloody Marys. I have never seen my fiancé order anything other than a burger here. I personally try different items on the menu frequently because I love this place so much and it is a real treat to go here. |
My recommendations are that if you're going to order something with waffle fries, order the Sweet Tobasco Ranch sauce with it. This is the perfect mix of spicy and sweet and is tempered equally so that you get to enjoy the flavors without spending dinner trying to fan the flames on your taste buds. |
If you order a salad, I would recommend trying the Roasted Tomato and Pepper Ranch dressing. It may have the word "Ranch" in it, but it does not have that flavor in my opinion. It reminds me of biting in to a really sweet red bell pepper, but in a creamier form. I also want to point out the Fondue. They have a marvelous appetizer fondue which is a cheese sauce (creamy, not sharp in flavor) and comes with chunks of baguette, grilled chicken, and some vegetables to dip. The website does not show this on the menu, but I have ordered it multiple times. |
They also have a dessert fondue: a cauldron of melted dark chocolate with an adorable little tea light candle underneath with lollipop sticks covered in marshmallows that are rolled in graham crackers and crushed Oreos, as well as strawberries, banana slices and rice crispy squares.
What I enjoy about this place is the attention to detail. The wine takes a while to get to the table, but they take the time to chill it appropriately for the type of wine that it is and I believe I've seen them aerate it, but don't quote me on that.
The best little touch to this place is the leftovers. You are not handed a Styrofoam container and expected to slide your food in. Instead, the servers will take it and take care of all that for you. Most importantly, they write the contents on each container for you, along with their classy "T" logo.

Note that this is a nice place. I can't say I've ever seen anyone in jean shorts and a T shirt, but I personally do not consider this to be acceptable attire at this particular restaurant. That being said, you do not have to dress to the nine's to go here if you do not wish it.
Another note: Ladies! The hardwood floors that they have are particularly slippery. I have a rule that I will not walk in here unless I am holding on to someone. This restaurant and it's hardwood floors are how I acquired my nickname "Bambi".
